| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The massive tree down low has been axed out. Noticeable waterbar work witnessed. The new reroute of the trail however is in incredibly poor shape. An attempt for sustainability is just a mud pit, has invited erosion in many new areas, and there are hundreds of small shoestring size roots as trip hazards now that the earth has eroded along it in large sections. Easy to grab a shoe under. Incredibly poor, which is unfortunate. Only will get worse. Should have done the typical AMC method of shooting 90 degrees uphill for 200 feet, go for 200 feet, blast back to river, rinse and repeat. Add an extra thousand gain for no reason. North Twin continues to grow in tighter and would greatly benefit from a good haircut so as to not be a car wash. |

A FINE day in George Van Dykes woods was had. Trails are in decent shape end to end. A nice change of pace, whereas there was actual views to be had on a weekend. A rare treat. Lots of cars, but not sure where everyone was. There seemingly was a disproportionate number of cars, unless the hordes went to Hale. No complaints there, which also seems to be rare for this report. Grandpa Simpson, checking out. |
