Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Oliverian Brook has a huge parking lot considering it doesn't get a huge amount of traffic. We were third car at 6AM and still only three cars at 6PM
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: easy rock hops for me, including the large crossings on Sabbaday Brook. Small legs could not make some of these hops, and Margaret waded through all the crossings like she always does in warm weather
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Plenty of blowdowns on Sabbaday, including some rather large gnarly ones that are blocking the trail and creating herd paths. I recall a few blowdowns on the Tripyramid ridge between North and Middle, one of which has created a significant herd path around it
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: lots of friendly dogs, including four Australian shepherds, one of whom had gone up the wet North Slide with ease according to his owners!
Bugs
Bugs: A few flies were out but nothing was bothersome

Comments
Comments: Originally planned to start at Chocorua but my mini-me really wanted to tag along so I told her we would do an "easier" Sandwich Traverse! Started at sunrise and the quiet approach to Passaconaway after the rainy night was very serene and peaceful. First humans encountered were a trio of young men who had camped on the summit of Passaconaway. Started seeing more folks on way up Rollins. Trails were all very slick from overnight rains. Kate Sleeper was an absolute delight-tagged both summits for Margaret's NH100H. Very fresh moose poop on herd path to East but no moose spotted, although Margaret did spot her first one that ran in front of my truck on the Kanc! Really enjoyed the slide crossing near the South slide junction as well as the South slide section itself. Hit the Tri's and began down Sabbaday. I remembered top section being very steep from redlining years ago but was still surprised at how steep and gnarly it was. It was quite treacherous on the descent with tons of slab and loose gravel. Once it smoothed out we quickly hit the hairpin turn where we crossed the drainage and headed straight up The Fool Killer. The bushwhack was steep and direct with pretty good woods, just the occasional blowdown to work around. Once it began to level out a bit I put Margaret in charge and she was able to navigate the ridge all the way to the summit canister. She was super excited to find it and sign in. It had been a staggering 24 hours since Bougie Bob and friend had been there. Took a slightly different direct line down, paralleling our first line. Rest of Sabbaday Brook is so incredibly gorgeous, unfortunately at this point it was a slog for both of us. I was really hoping we would spot a normal looking person, friendly hiker, or nice looking family with car room at Sabbaday lot who would have mercy on us and give us a lift 2.2 miles down the Kanc, but it didn't materialize. I did NOT win father of the year yesterday by making Margaret road walk the Kanc at the end of the day during Holiday traffic, but we got it done safely after much suffering for both of our weary feet. Lots of post-hike ice cream remedied the suffering. Another epic day chasing Margaret around the mountains as she makes it look easy!
