Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We were thinking we could park at the pulloff on Church Hill Rd across from trail start but there was a gate near the beginning of Church Hill Rd saying it was a private turnaround. SO, as a result of not being allowed to drive up Church Hill Rd (which I believe is a class 6 rd?), we went a tiny bit back down Washburn Rd and parked roadside at a safe sightline distance. From there it was about .5 miles of roadwalk back up Washburn Rd, Knowles Hill Rd and Church Hill Rd. We then walked around the gate (there were no "no trespassing" signs) and once on the trail hit the familiar signboard for the trail distances via Skyland Trail.

Comments
Comments: Terrific morning for this fun little traverse. We initially dropped a car at Cardigan Lodge then headed to the start of the trail. Fun area I hadn't been to in a few years. Love the remote feeling, amazing granite ledge walks and distant views of no civilization. Distance was around 6.2 miles, give or take. Never saw anyone except in the Lodge parking lot. Perfect morning!
