This was a very satisfying day in the woods as I’ve wanted to summit Anderson and Lowell for many years. I started at Nancy Pond and made a 4 mile loop in just under 5 hours of dense bushwhacking. Navigation was pretty easy as there are some views through the trees. However, I was pushed south aiming for A from Duck pond, ending up closer to L, but it worked out well for this loop. I thought I might go down to Carrigain notch after A but was pushed east by the fear of cliffs in the notch. This was the slowest part, descending back toward Norcross and Nancy pond. My arms are red but not bleeding and I still have both my eyeballs, and plenty of spruce needles as souvenirs. Also, I found my lost poles up in Bemis meadow, and I was able to whack back down to the NP trail cutting a mile off the Bemis trail plus a few hundred feet. 4,300 feet for the day and 13 miles approx. |
