Up Tuckermans to Huntington. First time up Huntington and while it was different, it didn’t live up to the hype. If you’ve ever put your hiking poles away so that you could use your hands, then you can do this trail. There is a section where the yellow blazes disappear, but you can figure it out. Huntington was steep, and the going was slow, but you can do this. I was hesitant to do it solo, so I did it with a friend, but this trail could be done safely solo. Now I know. Took the left onto the Alpine Garden trail and then did a bunch of cross-cross, out-and-backs to redline several short trails between Mt. Washington and Lakes of the Clouds, then down Lions Head. Did over 11 miles in very windy above-tree-line conditions, but the sun was out and it was a great day. |
