Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first crossing on Tom Wiggin wasn't bad today but there is a big rock that moves unexpectedly. One foot went in.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I was expecting Tom Wiggin to be a bit more challenging and not enjoyable based on the WMNF Guide (31st) description, but it was actually quite fun - it had water bars and even some stone steps in places. It was definitely steep in places though. Is the WDOC hiding this great trail from us by not recommending it? :) (just kidding, it was pretty loose in places and I think more traffic would be bad for the trail) One blowdown on Tom Wiggin and one on Blueberry Ledge Cutoff (second one required pack removal). Both are in wilderness area.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Mine had fun. Wiggin is steep but no problems for an experienced pup. On this loop there was no water between the river at the bottom of Wiggin and the bottom of the Cutoff, so we did break out the bowl after finishing the climb up Tom Wiggin.

Comments
Comments: The objective was to hike the Tom Wiggin Trail, and that objective was met. The dog and I both had a great time. Based on the trail description I considered leaving him home but I'm glad I didn't.

Thank you to the WDOC workers out today - the trails are in great shape.
