Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Shockingly, I found a fairly new looking trekking pole between Savage and Teapot. Let me know if it's yours and you'd like it back.

Comments
Comments: I've missed bushwhacking in the North Country and was happy to be back up here! I made quick work of Spruce Mt East Peak, following old skid roads to within a couple hundred yards of the summit. Between reports and some openings where I could see over to Savage, I knew I should stay west. Naturally the moose paths all led down and east, which I foolishly followed. I headed a bit west in the col, but not far enough and fought my way up Savage. This was a steep climb, with lots of ledges and short cliff faces. The worst part was the blowdowns, second only to Castle in their ferocity, that required a fair bit of tightrope walking on half rotted trees to make it through. Once past the blowdowns, it opened up into a nice mossy, fairly open summit, characteristic of the peaks in this area. I was able to follow a moose super highway from Savage all the way to Teapot, only deviating from it for a quick detour to the summit of Goback Mountain and a cliff face for incredible fall views of Gore/Castle/Sugarloaf. The moose path was solid enough that the few visitors a year get funneled onto it enough for me to find a lost trekking pole! From Teapot I backtracked on the moose highway to the col and quickly picked up skid roads that led me back to the log landing above the cabins.
