Peaks Mt. Willard, NH
Trails
Trails: Mt. Willard Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Tuesday, September 24, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked in small roadside lot near the Crawford Depot. Still several spaces at 8:15 AM on a Tuesday, and lots of room on side of the road. The Depot lot had spaces, but a sign requests a $10 donation for parking. Restrooms at the Depot were open as of 8:15 AM, but it seems to be a popular stop for tour busses, so they may be crowded.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No problem, stroll across both crossings on the rocks. Water is very low due to dry conditions.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail is in great shape. No blowdowns, not even a stick. Nice stone steps in strategic locations. Wide trail, easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several, all friendly and looked happy.

Comments
Comments: As usual, Mt. Willard gives a beautiful view for minimal effort. A great beginner or (in my case) rehab hike. Being in New Hampshire, it has the obligatory rocks and roots, but mostly easy(ish) walking, no really steep spots, no scrambling. No mud today, but conditions are especially dry. Not many hikers at first, but by mid-morning on a Tuesday there was a steady stream ascending. Some fall color is starting to show up. In fact, on the trail itself, some of the colorful maple leaves have already fallen. Anyway, it's all beautiful, both on the trail and at the top.
