Dropped a bike at the Stony Brook TH then started the hike from Rattle River. This trails starts slow then increases elevation as it goes until it’s steep at the top. Ran into a four person trail crew near the top of the trail - thanks! Left on Kenduskeag to Shelburne Moriah, then back and continued to Mt Moriah. Kenduskeag was nice on the approach to Shelburne Moriah with several good looks. The trail was tight in spots due to overgrowth. The section of Kenduskeag from Rattle River to Moriah has at least one hiker-eating mud hole. I went in up to my knee and never hit bottom. Not much to say about the short section from Moriah to Stony Brook on the Carter-Moriah trail…it was fine. I’d been down Stony Brook before and didn’t much care for it. After doing it again, I’m still not a fan. 13.3 miles. |
