I decided to hike Green Mtn and East Kineo today, as I already did Cushman from route 118, and I plan to hike Mt. Kineo from the Stinson lake side (and hit a couple other 500 highest over there as well.) Apparently today I took the hard way to East Kineo. I stuck to a due-east bearing almost all the way from the HOL and the hobble bush was relentless and 6 feet high almost the whole way. But I could see through the leaves the high point I was headed for, at least. I passed a trail about half way, but ignored it, then ended up on it again about 200 feet from the summit. There were experiments and ribbons all over this mountain, even in the thick parts. At a clearing near the top, the summit bump was not obvious in the thick trees so I checked the gps and saw I was very close. After reading other folks’ comments in the canister I realized many of them took the yellow blazed trail (not on my map) most of the way. I took this trail back west, it was soggy but nice to be on a trail anyways. When the trail turned away from my bearing, I just bushwhacked in a straight line NNW until I met up with the Kineo trail again. It sure was easier going downhill in that stuff!
