Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I arrived at 7:15 on a Saturday and there were already a dozen cars (most headed up Passaconaway and Whiteface I assume because I did not see them). When I returned at 12:45 there were 52 cars, lining the edges of the lot and one side of the road off Ferncroft. There are signs prohibiting parking on Ferncroft and the other side of access road.
Surface Conditions

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All water crossings were easy; rocks were readily available for short crossings.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many of the blazes are quite faded.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one dog on a leash who seemed quite happy!
Bugs
Bugs: None!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Pair of sunglasses set on a rock on Mast Trail. I left them in case the 2 women who just passed me might have lost them and returned for them.

Comments
Comments: The Kelley Trail is stunning! The box canyon rocks on either side give the trail an enchanted feeling. Moderate climb. Lawrence Trail added some steeper sections but not bad. 99% of the trails were dry; only a couple of sections on Lawrence had standing water. Kudos to trail crews over the years who created a dream trail of stone steps in places. Old Mast trail, slight uphill for a bit, then moderate downhill grade for a pleasant return to the trailhead. Clouds hung over Whiteface and Passaconaway today, but the views to the right of the summit (as Ken's book says -- past broken boulders on the right then down a short path to the right of them) were lovely with the leaves just beginning to turn. Subtle colors on a cloudy day.
Blazes are infrequent but the trail is well trodden so easy to follow.
Saw 3 other people, 1 with a dog.
