| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked in the small roadside lot near the Crawford Depot, one of the last spots at 8:00 AM on Friday. By noon, many cars were parked along the side of the road. Restrooms at Depot were open as of 8:00 AM. |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
The two main crossings were very easy in current dry conditions. Probably not so easy under other conditions. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is one confusing spot around mile 1.4 on the Avalon Trail, where the trail appears to go straight, but really turns left. Some additional blazes, an arrow or an obstruction would be helpful. Otherwise, the trail is easy to follow and in great condition. No significant blowdowns. A few leaners around mile 1.1 and after. They look stable, for now. Many nice stone steps. Good signage (with mileages!). |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a couple, seemed happy. There is a steep, rough rocky stretch and a couple scrambles that might be difficult for some dogs. |

| Bugs: |
None. |

This is a great hike, with a wonderful view at the Avalon summit. It's fairly short, but with a few steep sections and a little scrambling, so you get to earn the view. It was a little hazy, maybe due to wildfire smoke, but great views of Mt. Washington, other Presidentials, and peaks on both sides of Crawford Notch. There is some nice fall color in the area. Still some green on the trees, but a lot of leaves have fallen on the trail, not enough to be a problem, yet. |
