List: NH 500 Highest
Trail type: road walk and bushwhack
Jar/Canister: yes
After summiting Diamond Pond, we got back in the car and continued driving on Diamond Pond Road (dirt, good surface) and shortly encountered a sign that said the road was closed to the public. Specifically it read; “Stop! Road for residents only.” There was a public water access point with nice lot and ports-potties, though just before this sign. We parked here.
We then had to walk along Diamond Pond Road until it ended at a snowmobile bridge. There were no signs prohibiting access so we walked across the bridge to the snowmobile junction. We took a bearing here and set off into this woods. This was probably our longest bushwhack of the day due to all the thorns and clumps of tight trees we encountered on the way up. On the way down, it was easier to navigate a route that wove in and around these obstacles.
Jar present, register dry. |
