List: NH 500 Highest, NN 200 Highest
Trail Type: established trail, bushwhack, snowmobile trail
Jar/Canister: yes
We were staying at Coleman State Park so we simply remained parked there and continued onto the Cohos Trail, northbound. The Cohos Trail is magnificently blazed and signed and is no problem to follow. We were on it for about 1.8 miles. In this distance we walked on an old logging road at a very moderate grade. When we reached the junction with Corridor 18, a snowmobile trail as listed on Gaia, we shot a bearing and went off into he woods. This peak was more steep than the others we’d hiked, but was not very hard. After some time at the flat summit, we located the gorgeous canister and summit sign. This is our favorite type of discovery!! The register was dry.
On the way down we somehow went more right and ended up in brambles and mud up to our shins, not the nice woods we walked up in. We corrected our course and made it to the snowmobile trail in short order. We retraced our steps back. This hike was around 5 miles. |
