Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Peak/early foliage weekend traffic later in day in Lincoln. I got to Lincoln Woods about 7:15 and got one of the last space.... I was happy but it didn't really matter because I had my bike and could bike in from the Kanc if necessary.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Camp 9 Brook - crossable on logs across brook; Hellgate Brook - relatively easy rock-hoppable but I dunked a foot; Redrock Brook - I was afraid of this one as I've had trouble here before but it was a relatively easy rock-hop; Lincoln Brook northern crossing near Owl's Head spur was straightforward; the bigger Lincoln Brook crossing near top of Blackpond "bushwhack" was rock-hoppable; Franconia Brook near bottom of Owl's Head was kind of sketchy as it usually is - it took me a while to find a good route.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Mostly wilderness so lots of downed trees that aren't going anywhere - kind of made a lot of this a very slow steeplechase; northern end of Owl's Head - no markings of any kind and sometimes the trail coincides with the river, so, kind of muddy and one would think the trail is easy to lose but weirdly I never lost it. However, there are some decent reliable and sound bog bridges - an unexpected pleasure.

Comments
Comments: Terrific morning/early afternoon. On my to-do list for a long time to revisit the loop around Owl's Head. Biked to the wilderness sign and locked bike in woods. For the loop (on foot, obviously) around Owl's Head, well, I've had chronic leg issues forever so I wasn't sure if I could but it went well. I mostly jogged whenever the trail wasn't super bony/sharp-rocky/steep and tried to keep the actual "hiking" to a minimum. Feeling pretty good but the last mile was a drag. Super pretty and amazing woods!!!! North end muddy as usual. Love the distant views of the north end of Owl's Head and the impending mass of Franconia Ridge way above the swamp on the north end. Summary - about 6 miles by bike, 14 miles by foot. Around 2K elev gain overall plus or minus.
