We hit this clockwise. Foliage in Evans Notch and Wild River Wilderness are peak. The colors were spectacular, and the weather was perfect. Some folks packing up at the shelter, the view spur was a nice preview of things to come. Scrambles were nice and dry, and we took our time once we popped out of the trees. Between South and North we found small patches of muck, and the scrambles heading up North were also nice and dry. Coming down North on the way to the Eagle Crag, we found more muck and slick rocks. Most spots were negotiable. The view back to the ridge heading up South is amazing! The drop from the Eagle Link junction was rugged, and requires care. Below this section there was a lot of leaf on trail, a lot the higher elevation hardwoods have dropped their leaves already. This next section of trail when it levels out some is where we found the wet rocks and good mud pits. Still plenty negotiable, just more prevalent. Beautiful day out there, we were so happy to enjoy the foliage and sunshine! |
