Comments
Comments: Passed two hikers .5 mile from the finish who had done Avalon, other than that saw nobody all day. A trace of snow along the ridge but nothing that made the trail slippery and nothing was iced over. Very wet between rain last night, rain during the hike, and the trees weeping. Speedgoats were super grippy on the wet roots/rocks etc which led to an overconfident bum touch because turns out they aren't as great on slick mud. With nobody else on the trail got excited that maybe the foliage traffic heading home would be minimal but the guy with the pop-up camper who decided to tie a bunch of bikes onto the roof of the camper and apparently missed one which was run over by the guy behind him resulting in 2 flat tires made sure there was a 45 minute backup at the Concord tolls. Remember folks, if you can't tie good knots, tie lots of them.
