Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I crossed McDonough Brook twice on the BW, a quick rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One large maple is down across Slippery Brook trail about 0.5 mile from the gate, I stepped over it. One smaller spruce is down on the pond loop trail near the shelter, not a big deal to step over.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one, leashed on the pond trail. A great place for a dog walk.
Bugs
Bugs: At the summit of Slope Mtn I was attacked by a huge swarm of ladybugs. No joke - they were biting me it felt like. I had to move away from the view to another spot.

Comments
Comments: I had a few hours after some business in North Conway so this adventure was perfect for a late afternoon. It was about 7 miles in 3.5 hours. Round Mtn was quick but unremarkable, and I found no summit jar after searching several false summits/ bumps. The hike east to Slope was lovely. Leaves made it a little slippery, but ground was dry and decent footing. I wandered off my bearing to follow FR17B for a ways before it got bad, I could see the Slope summit in the distance to take a new bearing. Quick moving in these open hardwoods, lots of big oaks. Softwoods at the summit of Slope, with great views both East and West and an orange pvc canister to sign in. I could see the pond so took a bearing and went straight there, avoiding the marsh but passing close by it. It took 1:45 from Slope to the pond but didn’t seem that long, I was enjoying the solitude out there. I couldn’t remember what the shelter at the pond looked like so I went over there, then backtracked around and out the south side of the loop. Very rough, rocky footing on the pond loop, but not muddy. The views made up for it, with the hills reflecting in the late day light. I was sad to leave this beautiful place!
