Always enjoy this fun loop. At the Donkey Hill Cutoff I continued north about .8 miles. The immediate beaver dam crossing was difficult as always - had to go into the shrubs to keep feet dry. Boards were pretty slippery also - I dunked a foot. I always like the section north of the beaver dam for its remote and wild feel. I decided to turnaround at the swampy section near the top of Foxglove Pond - this is usually my decision point as there wasn't a good bypass and it was very wet. I was also running out of time so I just headed back and completed the loop. In general, there were a lot of dry leaves on the trails (as expected) so footing was sometimes a challenge. |
