| Comments: |
In AM, snow noted in woods around 3200’, and a few inches on trail around 4000’. Snow was sticky. Some used spikes, some not. From the hut above treeline on Gulfside, there was anywhere from a few inches to a foot or two of soft, sticky snow…some packed, some drifted, some mildly postholed. We opted to go around on Gulfside to Tstorm junction and ascend Adams from there on Lowe’s Path. Spikes on for the ascent. Some of the nooks and crannies on the summit cone were filled in, but still needed careful footing around the rocks. Less snow on Madison. Spikes worn partway up, but once trail worked around to the south facing side, all snow gone and no spikes needed. By afternoon, Valley Way was slushy on the descent and spikes were helpful descending from the hut on the upper portion. |
