| Comments: |
No snow or ice. Ledges were mostly dry, and any water on the rock surface was easily avoided. Mostly good footing. Some leaves and needles that did not present any difficulties.
The cairns on the open ledges are often small and are not visible in the snow season.
Be aware that the round trip from Passaconaway to North Moat is just over 10 miles with a 4,000 elevation gain. This makes the hike more strenuous than some 4K peaks.
Excellent panoramic views from all the Moat peaks and many spots along the ridge. There are also some fine evergreen forest sections between Middle Moat and North Moat.
Many hikers out on the trail with many hiking out and back to North Moat from Passaconaway Road. Others came up from the north approach. |
