| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Going from my admittedly poor memory ... Woodland: One small easy stepover just after the Nature Loop junction; a few easy stepovers above the old beaver ponds; one messy tree in there somewhere between the lodge and the Clark Trail concurrency. Skyland: A few stepovers between Crane and Orange; blazes need refreshing but I believe the Cardigan Highlanders are already aware. Vistamont: Blazes need refreshing. Clark: A pair of walkunders between Vistamont and Woodland has been trimmed for easy passage but could be an issue with deep snow. |

What a glorious day in the Cardigan region! I stayed "Cardigan-adjacent" to avoid what was likely a busy summit up there. Beautiful blue skies, cool and comfortable temps, and none of the wind that was in the forecast. Gorgeous long views with the clear air.
The new blazes on upper Woodland Trail between the old beaver ponds and Skyland Trail look good and are super helpful. Thank you (you know who you are)!
Overall foliage color is getting dull when viewed from the ridges but the lower elevations still have bright yellows going on. Lots of leaves are down on the trails so be mindful for rocks and roots.
Other than a group of five on Orange Mtn., I saw no one else all day. |
