Comments
Comments: A fair stretch of the day was spent on Kinsman Ridge Trail, heading out to the junction with Reel Brook. We had a couple views from the sparse viewpoints, but otherwise building haze obscured them as the day went on. Newer bog bridging put in just north of Mt. Wolf...we were thankful and impressed they used trees instead of lumber. A lot of wet rocks, plenty of fresh leaves, and a few good mucky spots kept us on (or off!) our toes. Increased leaf drop closer to Reel Brook, making it a bit slick. Some very small patches of snow in only a couple spots, enough to make one snowball. Gordon Pond Trail was nice, with the more gradual area just below the pond being the muckiest (required some fancy foot work to avoid the mucksuck). The herd path to the pond itself was nice too. A couple old artifacts on trail: half of a wheelset and what looked to be a water valve control for some sort of hydrant. We also noticed what looked like a large square block of stone (similar to a concrete footing) below the first set of falls of Gordon Pond Brook. The remainder of trail was (fairly) breezy old logging road. Following the "trail" signs, we looped out onto the powerlines, and then down to Mountain Side Road. We also enjoyed the old snowmobile signs (Corridor 11, Bog Trail, Elbow Pond, etc), and wondered if people ever do snowmobile on that portion of trail?

This was a great time to be on Gordon Pond Trail with the drier conditions. Hint hint. Have fun!
