Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My dog did great. There were a few sections which required a boost, simply due to the slippery ice going up Ammo. This is ideal hiking weather for my dog and he was overjoyed to rub his face and body in the snow.

Comments
Comments: Switched to my winter pack for this hike. Absolutely beautiful day to get out there. Going up Ammo there were significant patches of snow to start. At about 4000 ft is where the fun really began as the water that runs down the trail turned to ice. I put my spikes on here. My dog required a few boosts because the trail was so slippery. Once at the hut, there were areas of snow but with the sunshine yesterday I doubt the levels are as high. Quick up and down to Monroe then back down to head up to Washington. Rock spikes are probably best right now. Summit was an absolute zoo, I think today was the last day the cog is running. People were slipping and sliding everywhere (and asking me lots of questions on how my dog got up the mountain. Haha!) The most gorgeous views heading down Gulfside towards Jewell of the Northern Prezis. Trail was packed down and spikes were perfect. Once I was on Jewell and below treeline I was able to take my spikes off almost immediately and just rock hop to avoid the ice. Conditions could not have been better today! Washington & Monroe for fall, check!
