Not a bad afternoon. I drove the road until a turnaround, the road continues, but gets a bit narrow so I parked and jogged the last 3/4 mile. I did South Chick out and back on a decent skidder path, then open hardwoods to Chick North, no path needed. Obvious high points with jars. Many leaves are down so there was a filtered view in all directions. I could see Bald, so went straight over there, took about 1 hour. This one has a nice open view from high ledges with red pines on it, a lovely spot. After signing in at the top, I took a direct bearing back to the road and made good time on more skidder paths. 3 hours total for these 3 peaks, not sure the mileage, around 8 miles I estimate with the road walk. For sunset I tagged Success Hill which has a freshly logged top with a big view and I can hear a pack of coyotes singing as I type this. |
