| Comments: |
At higher elevations, maybe above 4000 ft. or so, there was a thin layer of slippery snow/ice in many places, but we could avoid stepping on it almost everywhere since there were enough protruding rocks to walk on - so it required care, but was manageable in regular hiking boots. The snow/ice started appearing on Falling Waters Trail in the woods above ~4000 ft., then disappeared once above treeline, and there was almost none along the ridge, but there was snow/ice along much of Greenleaf Trail between Mt. Lafayette and Greenleaf Hut, and a little on Old Bridle Path just below Greenleaf Hut. But, as mentioned, it was essentially all avoidable.
Some of the ledges in the middle of Falling Waters Trail were wet - not problematic, but one had to take care.
There were two or three short sections of standing water (one was on Greenleaf Trail just east of the hut), but always with enough rocks to rock-hop across them.
Greenleaf Hut seems to be closed for the season, but restrooms and a drinking water faucet are still available there. |
