| Comments: |
As previously noted by a fellow hiker, ALL of the leaves are down on the lower part of the Gail River Trail. There are rocks under there! That clears out at about the 2 mile mark. The trail is super casual with the climbs being moderate. There was nothing technical about this trail. All single and double beamed bridges are in good shape. Although now closed, Galehead Hut was still welcoming with its sunny porch and amazing views. I dropped my backpack there and headed to the breezy and cool summit of Galehead stopping at the overlook for even more stunning views, including Galehead Hut and nearby South Twin. Summit is in the woods. Thanks to SDuclos for reuniting me with my battery charger! Canada Jay’s were present at the Hut! The descent was a breeze and fun! Total time: 5 hrs 38 min with lots of picture taking and a 25 min lunch. |
