Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water is low, but obviously present and deep in some areas. Stepping stones are plentiful and typically well placed, but an errant step will get you in the drink well past your ankles in several spots. I didn't have problems with glaze ice yet, but that's just a matter of time and temperature. Watch your step! Also, in the bushwhacks, marshy areas are wet, at least ankle deep, and annoying. Gore Tex boots will do you well here.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: In the bushwhacks, it's catch as catch can. On the regular trails, things are quite nice, if muddy and wet in several spots. There are several bog bridges that are at the ends of their service lives, several where they're entirely unnecessary. I didn't pass by the junction of Isolation and Rocky Branch, but both those trails were in fine shape for the rest of their lengths.

Comments
Comments: This was 46 of my October 48. Woo-hoo!
I'm not sure the bushwhacks are ripe yet... might need a little more time on the vine. They were passable, but in more than a few places were a marshy slog. You can't beat the views of the glades, though...
Leaves on the trees are making a thick mat up until about 2,500 feet, which makes footing sketchy. I found the trail in that area had a lot of grapefruit-sized rocks and more than a few roots littered around practically everywhere. Every step, I wondered if this was where I would turn my ankle. Take it slow in that stretch. Otherwise, things are pretty good.

A more detailed trip report and many photos are on my blog, as usual. Share and enjoy!
