Tons of broken glass all over ground beneath/around tower, on steps, and in tower itself (where a broken window occurred). Big time paw hazard for pups!
I had the idea that Ranger was terrible/muddy/no fun from past hike on it many years ago. Really enjoyed it today. Was in great shape, not that muddy and very serene along the brook. kids loved it too. Rocks all over mountain that were in the shade were very greasy. Felt like summer in the hardwoods with lack of shade. As noted above there’s broken glass everywhere by the tower. Leash your dogs and approach with caution! The three year old was fearless going up tower, the six year old chickened out and stayed with Fin:) Views were extremely hazy/ limited. The final 800’ of descent from the big view ledges to the lot was horrible! Worst leaf slip and slide ever! Deep layer of dry ones on top of wet ones made it impossible for us to stay upright despite all our efforts. Crazy to say but descending Ranger would be a WAY better option right now to avoid that nonsense!!! |
