Comments: This was a fall cleanup day on my adopted 1.4-mi. section of Downes Brook Trail from the trailhead to the Sandwich Range Wilderness boundary.

20 drainages were cleaned and six blowdowns were cleared. Signs are still in good shape. This trail is not blazed. Leaf cover is obscuring rocks underfoot between the upper two brook crossings so watch your ankles.

I rarely see anyone out here but today I had the pleasure of meeting a group of four folks from Boston. One was a former AMC hut master. Just really nice people. They hiked about two miles in, found a sunny spot along the brook to hang out for a while, then walked out. They loved it there. It was a good reminder that you don't have to bag a peak to have a nice day in the woods.

Looks like someone has been doing work on the trail beyond the wilderness sign as blowdowns have been recently cut.
