Comments
Comments: Was planning on Holts Ledge from the N but on a whim bushed over to Bear instead from a point on the AT just south & uphill of the Trapper John spur, thence to the col and summit where I found a canister & notepad bearing the names of the usual fanatics. Hadn't realized Bear was on the 500 list. Thought about backtracking & continuing to Holt but instead took the N ridge down (nice moss covered slabs), alongside the easterly glacial scour ledge line to a point where I could more safely off-ramp E toward my starting point. Picked up a logging road then an unmaintained woods road, then picked up a faint trace trail running E along the federal boundary line & a stone wall, thence bushed NE through the woods & back to the trailhead.
