Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The road off Meridian Rd, off Rt 3 was very rough but doable at 5-10 mph. The only signs I noticed said Augustus Heminway Memorial Forest. I drove my Tacoma up to about 2000 ft elevation, then there is an open gate but no vehicles allowed further. Plenty of parking on the side.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossed at least a dozen small streams coming down from Notch Mtn, then there is beaver flooding of the old road which is almost obscured now. My feet stayed fairly dry surprisingly.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: None
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs could do the hike. One barked at me as we were both leaving, not sure if they were hunters or hikers.
Bugs
Bugs: Some deer keds (flying ticks) still out. Mainly in the moose bedding areas.

Comments
Comments: This ended up being a 10 mile loop with 3,200 feet of climbing, (but 500 of that was from me going way off course after Blue before realizing my mistake.) I went clockwise, and found good skidder lines and a maple operation taking me up Pleasant. More good lines and moose paths all the way to West and Blue. Heading for Gore, the woods got worse and pushed me way down on the east side of Gore notch and I had to regain all that wasted elevation just to get back to the col. From here, I attempted to bail out and head back to the road the quickest way, but it was impenetrable woods. So I continued following the loop (I had hoped to make it to West Castle originally) and I hit Gore Mtn, then Notch Mtn. The going was very slow up to Notch Mtn, and I decided to try bailing out again and followed a bearing in better woods all the way back down to the “road”, which is not a road anymore it is so overgrown and flooded. After about a mile of this at a snowmobile junction it turns back into a road or a snowmobile trail for the last mile or so. All in all it was a memorable day, I feel lucky it didn’t rain, and I saw 2 moose. This brings me to 88 of 100 for the NHHH.
