Comments
Comments: Unknown Pond trail seems to have been rerouted in the lower part around the mud.

This was a good bushwhack for a wet morning, I stayed pretty dry since the woods were open. There were probably views from Hutchins, but it was socked in, sadly. In fact it was so foggy, I almost walked right into a mama and baby moose guarding the canister, no joke. They weren’t very shy either. I took pictures and talked to them until they trotted off. That made up for the lack of views, as I was getting bored slogging uphill through the fog. Navigating back along the ridge to the Bulge I was constantly checking my compass and map, trying to stay high on the ridge. The going was good, but the fog made it hard to read the landscape. I found all the registers, and on Mary (East Pilot) there is a cut path for a ways, a boundary of some kind. I did the totally pointless out n back to Cabot, on slippery rocks, for the grid, then up and over the Horn for views as the sun finally came out around 2:00. After a quick whack to Unknown PP and back, I whacked across the trail to the cliff with the most amazing view. I wonder how many people visit that peak but don’t know of this viewpoint? It was truly breathtaking and a great reward after a long foggy day.
