Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Still many blowdowns, nearly all stepovers, on Mill Sluice Foot Trail; they have been there at least since the winter and possibly longer. Temporary trail signs are up at the junctions along the new trails (Blue, Orange, Red; these trails do not yet have names). Neville Ridge Scout Foot Trail has many but not all of its red blazes covered with cut squares of yellow reflective vinyl. These are also nailed all the way in and don't allow for tree growth. Given the obvious inconsistency with other blazing in the forest, this is setting off my bootleg alarm but I'm going to email the Epsom Conservation Commission (ECC) to check.

Comments
Comments: (Note: The subpeaks on Fort Mtn. have no official designation but ECC is calling them "South Peak" and "East Peak" on their temporary trail signs.)

The new blue-blazed trail at Epsom Town Forest now allows for a long loop hike, and also provides access to two viewpoints on Fort Mtn.

The main hazard today was leaves! They were covering rocks and roots and were quite slippery, especially when descending. Took a few slips but never hit the ground. That was okay with me as my fractured hand (from a fall in late September) has finally healed.

Nice views from both outlooks on Fort and on Neville; it's so much nicer now to be able to reach Fort without using the steep access road!
