| Comments: |
Dropped a bike at the Hubbard Brook trailhead off Hubbard Brook Road then parked and started this loop hike at the Mt Kineo trailhead, which is up a short spur road off Hubbard Brook Road. The Mt Kineo trail starts with an incline to its height-of-land then descends to Donkey Hill Cutoff. A couple of muddy spots on Kineo but, for the most part, wet areas could be avoided and my feet stayed dry. Donkey Hill Cutoff is short and dry with some water views. Three Ponds trail looked like it could be a bit wet in other seasons, but it was dry today and the feet continued to stay dry. Hubbard Brook trail was uneventful until almost to the Hubbard Road trailhead. To this point, all trails were easy to follow, even with lots of leaves on the ground. The last 0.2 miles were a tangled mess with blowdowns, infrequent blazes, undergrowth, and some water to avoid. On the other hand, there is some impressive beaver activity here too. |
