| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Was the third car in the Crawford Connector lot at ~6:45 this morning. There were ~7 when I left in the afternoon. Edmands lot was ~1/3 full in the afternoon.
For some reason Google Maps thought that Mt Clinton Road was closed but it is definitely open and open all the way to the Edmands trailhead. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Wet/Slippery Rock, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water is still very low so the crossing on Edmands was no problem. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There's one annoying blowdown on Edmands that has been delimbed but is still at a height that makes for trouble to get around. Unfortunately I don't remember the elevation/location though I think it was in the middle third. |

Crawford Path to Pierce: Dusting of snow lower down. Ice starts at ~3200 feet with some sections of the trail solid ice. On Crawford these were all pretty easy to get around and I didn't use spikes at all on the way up to Pierce.
Crawford Path Pierce -> Monroe: The first bit in the trees leaving Pierce headed toward Eisenhower had a lot of ice floes on the trail. There was once very narrow section where I wound up putting on spikes though I only kept them on for ~0.1 miles. Once it moves out of the trees, spikes were unnecessary. There was mostly bare rock with snow and ice patches that were easy to navigate around. The last couple hundred feet up to Monroe had a lot of rime ice but I still felt comfortable without spikes.
Edmands Path: There is a big section of the trail (~200 feet long?) at around 4200 elevation where the whole trail turns into a frozen waterfall. Very challenging to navigate and I wouldn't want to try it without spikes. Once you get past that section - the rest of the way down is pretty easy with the ice avoidable without spikes. By the afternoon snow was gone below ~2500 feet.
I only used spikes for a couple of small sections but I was VERY glad to have them!
