| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We parked at the Welton Falls (South) trailhead in Alexandria, just on the side of the right-of-way that leads to the trail -- careful to pull way out off to the side so as not to (even remotely) impact access for the residents nearby who use the right-of-way to get to the driveway for their home. There's room here for a couple of cars. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water levels are pretty low -- Templeton Brook was the only drainage/creek with anything in it, and it was a simple rock hop to cross. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One decent-sized stepover that can be dragged off the trail (when we have a bit more time). |

| Comments: |
This was just a quick rekky to check trail conditions and make sure that the trail work we did this past summer is holding up -- it indeed is.
New blazes look good, we re-installed a moose-bent range pole, and cleared some deadfall. All is well.
Also note that the grassy area just before the end of the right-of-way, where the trail begins (near the pig sty...yes!) and enters the woods, has been mowed. This past summer, the grass was probably three feet high? Not any more -- very nice now!
There were a few inclined sections with deep piles of oak leaves with the requisite acorns -- you'll do a vaudeville clown act to avoid falling on your face, but, it's that time of year, right?
This trail is a nice walk in the woods and an easy way to connect to the middle section of the Elwell Trail. |
