Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Some sort of construction activity was going on in the general area of the parking lot outside the gate, so people were parking just over the hill not far from Shannon Pond, where there is ample parking.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only one, down low, is bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trails are in good shape, overall. There are some deep pockets of leaves, notably in places where the trail is a narrow gully. Much of the leave cover, however, has been blown down to bare ground. There is a blowdown on the north side of the lower half of Oak Ridge Cutoff, generally at the side of the trail, but which has a branch with a broken end protruding out over the trail, about head high; I can imagine someone hiking upward, looking mainly down at the trail, and walking face first into that branch. There is one blowdown across the trail a short distance above where High Ridge trail turns left at the (totally dried up) pond where the Turtleback trail goes straight ahead; it's been there a while and is an easy step-over.

Comments
Comments: Nice November OTHH hike, under cloudless sky and cool temps. It's amazing how far one can see through the leave-less forest this time of year, compared to late spring and summer.
