Comments
Comments: Traverse from north twin. north twin trail was mostly frozen and firm. We were able to move pretty quickly to the river, minimal mud and ice. Put on spikes to cross. Several of the rocks were iced over. Put the rock spikes on at about 3500 ft when the snow became consistent. Stayed on until about 2700 ft on gale river trail. The only difficult part is the lower third of twinway approaching the hut. Significant ice flows at multiple spots required some maneuvering, off trail stomping and tree hugging. Crampons or maybe brand new spikes would work better, and save a lot of time. Frost trail up to galehead had some ice buildup but the ice was easily navigated thru. No wind today, snow starting to fill in a little at the top.
