Started up Valley Way but diverged at the junction with Brookside and took the Inlook trail up to Dome Rock then continued up to Watson Path for a less crowded ascent of Madison today. A light dusting of snow starts about a mile in which becomes more significant as you increase in elevation, although at no time was it enough to completely cover the ground. Above treeline there was time on the north side of the slopes and sticky snow on the south facing sides. Glorious sunshine and light wind made it an exceptionally comfortable day above treeline. Star Lake to Adams was a quite nice by November standards with minimal patches of ice. The descent down Airline had someoff and on areas of slick solid ice flows, but they were all able to be dealt with. Overall, it's still too rocky for spikes to be efficient |
