Comments
Comments: We took advantage of nice weather and, finally, low winds, to do a quick trip to Mt. Pierce.

Interesting conditions on the trail -- Crawford Path, by far, was the slowest-moving because of patches of blue ice interspersed with dry trail, wet trail, and eroded trail. Rock spikes were very helpful, especially the couple of tenths of a mile before Mizpah Cutoff all the way to the alpine zone. Mizpah Cutoff was lovely -- pretty much all snow and blue ice, making for quick work with the spikes. Our favorite was Webster Cliff heading up from the hut -- nice open, dry ledge, plenty of sunlight, and enough ice in the shadow areas to warrant keeping on the light traction.

We saw dozens of red squirrels, several Canada/gray jays, and, oh -- maybe six people, all day?
