Trails
Trails: Mt. Tecumseh Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, November 17, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Tripoli Road is open and in good condition. Some rocks protrude slightly above the road surface although they should not be a problem for any vehicle. Small lot in good condition.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing of Eastman Brook was easy on the tops of dry rocks. The water level is low.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in good condition. There is one evergreen across the herd path to the SE outlook on a slant. It is a duck under. There are some trees high above the trail on the ridge between West Tecumseh and Tecumseh. These trees presented no problems today but may obstruct the trail if there is a high snowpack. Even with snow these trees may not be difficult to get by.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs. I did not see any today.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Saw some glasses perched on the trailhead sign.

Comments
Comments: There was no ice or snow on the trail. The surfaces were dry with generally good footing. The small mud patches were frozen, so they were easy to walk over.
The short side path to the view area on West Tecumseh was intruded by evergreen boughs. The view is disappearing due to tree growth.
Nice views from the summit and from the SE viewpoint on the short herd path off the Sosman Trail near the summit.
Lots of hikers today coming from both the Tripoli Road and the ski area trailheads. Met John and Bob who were hiking a loop with Tecumseh and the Osceola peaks. Two women from Kittery & Amesbury were working on getting their hiking legs back. I hiked down from West Tecumseh with a hiker from Philadelphia.
