Comments
Comments: WINTER HAS ARRIVED?! For now at least. Hopes of a drier trail were quickly ruined as the first 2.5 miles was a mix of standing water, slush, and then small spots of snow. Once we reached the junction it was a constant 1-2 inches of sticky wet snow. Along the climb up as well as across the ridge the snow remained a constant 1-3 inches of wet sticky snow. Be careful along the ridge, the trees are full of some serious ice chunks, they could definently do some damage if they fell. Along the ridge there were some clear signs of strong winds coupled with ice accumulations as there was quite a bit of new blow downs. Heading down from south to the junction remained the same, 1-3 inches of sticky snow. Back to the car was the same as the way in, wet and slushy. We used rock spikes half way up north until half way down south. Definently a good day for gore-Tex and warm boots.
