Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Too many blow downs to count along Pine Bend and Middle Triypiramid. All passable but not necessarily climbing over or crawling under. Heavy ice on trees, many leaning and some just let the ice go without notice. Watch up above!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One Australian Shepard that made it up North Slide with 5 other humans. Super happy to see everyone. That slide is difficult without the snow, not sure how they pulled it off.
Bugs
Bugs: Where they should be, under the snow.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None.

Comments
Comments: Pouring rain overnight and this morning made for some wet leaves and slippery rocks early on. Even with all the recent rain, any flowing water seemed low. About an inch of slushy snow showed up around 2500’. Around 3500’, about 4” and just about all put their spikes on. No snow shoes needed today as everything packed down well. The trail is quite gradual and there was not much slipping with spikes on.
Arriving at the junction of Scaur and Pine Bend, this is where the blow downs started to show up. Wind started to kick up a bit and the trees were swaying, already quite heavy with thick ice up top. We saw around 6-8” of snow up here, again easy to pack down and a bit fluffier. All rocks and branches had a coat of ice underneath, so be careful when trying to climb and hold on to anything. All blow downs were passable but there’s so many and plenty of work to do.
With higher winds predicted tomorrow, keep your eyes above and watch for falling ice and branches. It’s so random and we heard crackles everywhere.
