Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Room for several cars in small hiker lot off route 118 - nobody else there. There is a pretty visible sign on 118 for the turn (driving north), but the sign in the parking lot itself was on the ground.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: water crossing at south end of Three Ponds Trail on beaver dam was doable but slippery. Bog bridges slippery everywhere. All other water crossings were generally rock-hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many blowdowns and deadfall on Three Ponds Trail. Very few blazes first couple miles heading south - probably not recommended if you aren't familiar with it. Swamp crossing near Foxglove Pond was difficult/slippery/on raised mounds that were slippery. Mt Kineo Trail first mile or so was easy on the snowmo trail but after the left turn was pretty rough. Hubbard Brook Trail east end was really hard to follow due to beavers. I had a tracker to see where I was otherwise I probably would have lost trail.

Comments
Comments: Terrific hike. Probably shouldn't have used trail runners as the first couple miles my feet were soaked and I was thinking I should have used plastic bags over my feet before putting on sneakers... but later it was moot as feet were totally soaked but I was burning enough energy to keep feet warm. Around 15 miles (2300' elev gain) in a bit over 5 hours - I jogged whatever flats and descents I could to shorten the time. Super remote feeling and beautiful woods. Only saw 1 person (and doggie) doing similar loop in opposite direction - saw him twice as we worked our way around loop. Kinda fun - got some trail intel twice. Spitting snow most of day. I slid on some planks in Hubbard Brook Forest and completely sank my foot/hands/side - quite a mess. Was super happy to get back to this area as I hadn't done these trails in a few years.
