Lower Doetown Rd. gets plowed. The trailhead parking does not but it is usually packed down by vehicles. That was the case today. |

And just like that, snowshoe season has returned to the mountains. Stinson is always a good one to reawaken those dormant snowshoe muscles.
Down low near the trailhead spikes would have been ok but the snow soon gets deeper and softer, so snowshoes were the best mode of transport round-trip. A few inches of crusty snow to start with a foot or so of powder at the summit. The entire route up and down the mountain was a mix of ski tracks, snowshoe tracks, and boot tracks, often all on top of each other. So at the moment there is no consolidated route.
Aside from the lower part of the hiking trail, I stayed on the snowmobile trail the entire time as the snowshoeing was easier. |
