Wildcat Ski Area is still closed there was prep going on we started about 5:30am to avoid anyone. We wore snowshoes from Beginning to the just above the junction of Nineteen mile on the way down. First tracks on Wildcat ridge 12-18 inches of snow Apricity did a lot of the trail breaking and we make good time to A. There are two tracks on this route not going to say it is broken as the snow was light and unconsolidated but it is a start. Made our way to the hut to change out wet clothes and eat, drink. Current hut staff seems really nice and kind. We had a hell of a time going to Carter Dome as there are a lot of people who think snowshoes are only if you are breaking a trail, ah duh. After the Dome we broke to the point that KittE had broken to. We were wet and cold so headed down. The trail to South is broken out but we were toast. Great day out we felt fortunate to get as far as we did. |
