 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking today at the Rt. 302 lot and the Cog hiker lot. Base Station Rd is well plowed but had a few icy spots this morning, one turn so slick it could turn the hardiest mountain road drivers skittish. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow - Wet/Sticky |

Snowshoes, Light Traction |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues. Crossings are low and partially snowbridged. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I don't recall any issues on Ammo. Webster Cliff Trail between Mizpah and Jackson had a few blowdowns and some sections of snow-bowed trees, I think only two were significant obstructions. Overall this section is not bad, much better than expected. A large blowdown on Jackson branch. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
A whole bunch of happy pups on Jackson today. |

Snowshoes from the start on Ammo until a short ways down Webster-Jackson Trail. Thank you! to those who broke out Ammo yesterday. We were the first up from Gem Pool on, passed a group of 4 in snowshoes as well. With any luck this trail is now in fine shape. It appeared that nobody has been between Monroe and Eisenhower since Thursday. There was some drifting and a few large drifts, those coupled with very low visibility lead to a few missteps into spruce traps. From Ike summit to Webster Cliff Junction was decently broken out by snowshoers. The base here was very soft still despite the fact it looks well packed closer to Pierce, noted a pair of hikers trying to boot it and were postholing badly approaching Eisenhower Loop. From Pierce summit to Jackson had seen more traffic but still not bootable. Snowshoes are necessary if planning to do anything more than just Pierce or Jackson.
Edmnnds Path and Mizpah Cutoff were not broken out. |
