|
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Haystack Road closed. Parked at 7 Dwarfs for $10 and walked to the trailhead, adding 1.5 miles either way. GPS recorded 11.7 miles. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The river crossing is a little tricky, the higher rocks have ice caps, the lower rocks are hidden by the ice sheet. But sometimes the ice sheet is hollow and breaks through to open water. We stabbed each step with a pole to make sure our boot wouldn't go through. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One blowdown spans Haystack road! A few smaller ones higher on North Twin, 3000+, easy to walk around. |

| Comments: |
Trail is well packed and bony to the crossing of Little River, we used spikes to that point. Above, snow getting progressively deeper, well packed (thanks Erik!) but a few fresh inches since. Snowshoes above the crossing for sure. Definitely winter - pictures at link. |
