Comments
Comments: Snow shoes are the best tool for all the fresh powder. You could do it car to car, but we used spikes going out and put the shoes on just as the climb starts. The snow gets deep fast as you go up, and is not long before it is knee deep. Lots of big blow downs and bent over trees loaded with snow. Very scenic, but slow going. And while some of the snow in trees is light and fluffy, some is heavy caked with ice. You will want a hood, after snow going down your back3,4,5 times, letting the hood down to cool off is not a good idea. Trail up to south twin is now well packed, Garfield trail is even better as several parties came up. Our goal was north twin, but trail from south to north was not broken and we ran out of time. GRT passed the junction towards mt Garfield had no tracks.
